PAED PREFERRED REVIEW:
La Roche-Posay is a French producer of dermatological products. This product is a “Lipid Replenishing Body Balm” ie a moisturiser. It is suitable for both newborns, infants and older children. It can be used on both normal skin for everyday moisturising, or on eczema flared skin to restore the skin’s barrier function and to hydrate the skin.
Eczema flares can be caused by a number of different triggers. These include soaps, perfumes and preservatives (of which parabens are one). This product is free of those potential triggers. For those with eczematous skin and particular allergies, the ingredients are clearly listed.
My experience with this moisturiser has been very positive, and is currently my preferred emollient. My eczema patients have had very good results in terms of skin hydration in particular. The hydration benefit period definitely varies from patient to patient, as one would expect, depending on the degree of skin dryness. Application may be required a number of times each day.
