PAED PREFERRED REVIEW:

The Weleda Calendula range of skin products is, as expected, based around the Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) extract. Sweet almond and sesame oils are also ingredients. Therefore, in those with sesame or almond allergies, this product should be avoided.

 

This is a high quality product. Only small amounts are needed to create aromatic, milky bath water, leaving a nice residue on bub’s skin afterwards.

 

Costs about $20 for 200ml. Only a couple of drops needed per bath, so very cost effective. Works best in warm water close to 37C.

 

What is the Evidence?

 

Calendula has a long history of being used for medicinal and other purposes, and there is a body of evidence that it may assist skin healing after radiotherapy.  

Beyond that, there is little peer-reviewed literature proving a clinical benefit to skin health in general. Like many skincare products, if you like it, use it, but don't put great weight on a specific medical benefit over other products.
